Improvements

The management committee is always trying to improve our club. Many people work hard to make things happen here and have done so in the past. We have been lucky to have a wide range of fantastic people contribute in getting this great community club to where it is.

Here are a few snaps of what has been done to improve the facility in just the last 12 months. Well done team!!

Novelty Tournament February 2012

Around 60 enthusiastic participants (members and their families) had a chance to showcase their 'skills' in a novelty tournament that included  "10 pin tennis, golf, cricket and netball" and "footennis"! A great time was had by all and well done to the juniors who showed up the 'oldies'. Perhaps we just needed a little more time to 'teach an old dog new tricks'!

Another great quiz night. Many thanks to all who attended and to the generous donations of prizes sponsors and participants.

Inaugural Annual Dinner 7th May 2011

Fifty five guests arrived at 6.30pm to a transformed Club room looking more like a five start restaurant than a tennis club. The evening began with pre-dinner drinks, nibbles and a sumptuous antipasto which if the volume of conversation is any guide set the scene for a great night. A delicious three course meal beginning with home-made soup followed by cooked to order fillet steak was accompanied by several delightful local SA wines. Cheesecake and home-made sticky date pudding was the proverbial icing on the cake. Four of our young junior women, Erin, Jacqui, Laura and Lydia provided first class table service which was very much appreciated by all the guests. Local band Gen7 added to the night playing lots of old favourites which had the guests up and dancing and testing those vocal chords. A raffle of goodies was won by Lorna Crisanti. Whilst functions such of these require a lot of very hard work by a few loyal volunteers judging by the feedback it was a great success and worth the effort. Special thanks to Peter & Denise, Robyn & Brian, Scott & Karen & Brian Hempel

Lawn Bowls - Sunday 20 February 2011

Twenty four members and friends plus kids attended the Modbury Lawn Bowling Club for three hours of great entertainment in perfect weather at fabulous facilities. Whilst the skills displayed ranged from “why are they here” to “why is the bowl going that way?" a great time was had by all. Well done to the 'juniors' who demonstrated their raw talent and natural ability with some awesome bowls!
